Dog-friendly East Cobb: the Sweat Mountain Park dog park, leashed trails on the Chattahoochee, a dog-friendly taproom and Cobb County's leash rules.

Last checked Oct. 5, 2026. Rules and facilities come from Cobb County, the National Park Service and each business’s own website, linked below.

East Cobb has one county dog park, miles of leashed trails along the Chattahoochee River and in county parks, and at least one taproom that says dogs are welcome. Everywhere outside a fenced dog park, your dog goes on a leash.

The dog park

Sweat Mountain Park, 4346 Steinhauer Road. The county park in northeast East Cobb has a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs, with wooded walking trails linking the ball fields to the dog park, five baseball fields, a playground and a reservable pavilion (Sweat Mountain Park; 770-528-8860).

Trails where dogs are welcome on a leash

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The National Park Service units on East Cobb’s southern edge, Cochran Shoals, Sope Creek, Johnson Ferry North and Gold Branch, welcome pets on the trails. The park’s rules, from its pets page:

  • Pets are allowed on park trails.
  • Pets must be on a leash 6 feet or shorter at all times, including in the water.
  • Pets may not be left unattended.

Parking fees, hours and trail maps are on our walking and biking trails guide.

Harrison Park, 2653 Shallowford Road. The county park’s 1.4-mile walking trail is listed by Cobb PARKS as dogs allowed on leash (Harrison Park).

Other county parks. East Cobb Park, Fullers Park, Mabry Park and Hyde Farm Park all have walking trails; see parks and trails. Keep dogs leashed there too.

The leash rule

Cobb County’s animal ordinances, Chapter 10 of the county code, cover leash laws, noise complaints, cruelty and public safety, according to Cobb Animal Services, which links the full ordinance text. In practice: a dog off your property is on a leash and under your control, and the only place to let it run is a fenced dog park. East Cobb is unincorporated, so the county ordinance is the one that applies; your HOA may add its own rules.

Patios and taprooms

Round Trip Brewing, Avenue East Cobb, 4475 Roswell Road, Suite 1600. The brewery says “yes” to both kids and well-behaved dogs inside its taproom and beer garden. Dogs must be on a leash at all times, owners clean up after them, and dog bowls are available on request. The East Cobb taproom is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday (Round Trip FAQ).

We list a restaurant patio here only when the business says on its own site that dogs are welcome. Is your patio dog-friendly? Tell us with a link.

Vets and pet services

Petfolk, a veterinary clinic, is at Avenue East Cobb, Suite 1420 (Avenue East Cobb directory).
